Sepang Beach Clean Up 2010
This is the very first environmental-related activity that I have joined which brought big changes to my entire life. More than 250 University Malaya students and the staff of Coca-Cola Company and the Body Shop volunteered to clean up the beach at Sepang Gold Coast in Bagan Lalang, Malaysia. The exercise was organised by The Body Shop, with the support of Coca- Cola Company under the annual International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) programme. The clean up was held at the Gold Palm Tree Resort which is almost a kilometre into the waters of the Straits of Malacca. During the clean-up along a 3km stretch, the volunteers collected 1,128kg of rubbish, consisting of cigarettes buds, plastics bags, food wrappers, plastic containers and construction debris. Some of us found several dead jellyfish on the beach.
Besides cleaning waterways, IC also provides valuable data on the waster materials collected by volunteers to the Ocean Conservancy. This data is important as it provides a snapshot of the marine debris which our oceans and water resources are subjected to, hence providing an insight into the causes and sources of marine debris.

DENSO YOUTH for EARTH Action (DYEA)
"DENSO YOUTH for EARTH Action" (DYEA) is an international program for "human resource development for the environment" to support youths who engage in activities related to coexistence between humans and the environment in Japan and ASEAN countries.
20 participants were selected to undergo this program in each ASEAN country. We studied environmental issues in my country and learn how to improve problem-identification skills through on-site curriculum and discussions.
I have the opportunities to find a clue to a solution for an environmental problem in communities through on-hand experiences and heart-to-heart discussions with friends, local people and environmental organizations.
Objectives
1. To install knowledge/awareness on the environment issues , including preservation and conservation initiative in Malaysia.
2. Creating interest and creative/innovative ideas on environment amongst the participants.
3. Select 3 best candidates to participates in Global Program.
4. Establish and improve linkages for DNMY associates and external party especially on environment.

Engineering Society Oversea Study Scheme (ESOSS-30)
ESOSS was first established in year 1978 by a group of Engineering Faculty student with the guidance of lecturers. ESOSS has been running for the past 3 decades, and has its roots in the Overseas Study Tour. This is a project whereby students conduct study or a slight research on specifics topics and conduct an idea sharing and presentation with the students in the universities visited. It is an unique learning experience that facilitates technology transfer that will not only benefit the team member, but the society in general. This year, ESOSS-30 specifies its topic in the scope of “Green Technology”, with the elaboration in “Intelligent Building” and “Sustainable Energy and its trend”. I have the opportunity to visit various sites in Korea which includes Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction, Yeongheung Thermal Power Site, KEPCO E&C Nuclear Power Plant, and other places related with green building and sustainable energy. This study trip was really eyes widening and mind broadening.
Objective:
i. Provide an opportunity for engineering undergraduates to learn foreign technology.
ii. Facilitates technology transfer.
iii. Instil leadership qualities, organization and inter-personal skills in team members.
iv. Introduce Malaysia to the world and strengthen ties between students from different country.
v. To forge friendships and widen circle of friends and thus encouraging tolerance and mutual respect.

Shah Alam River and Tree for Life 2012
Tree planting helps combat global warming. They provide shelter, shade and food for other living things. They purify air and water. They majestically beautify all corners of the world. They humbly provide for much of human society and economy. And what’s more, they continuously convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, which is essential for human beings survival.
Almost 350 volunteers participated in the Shah Alam River and Tree for Life 2012, a green effort organised by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and an NGO called Trees for Life. This activity was carried out on the 26th Feb 2012 at Sg Renggam, Section 15, Shah Alam. This was the second tree planting session at Sg Renggam. The first one was held on 25th Sep 2011. We planted 700 fruit and ornamental trees on part of Sungai Renggam riverbank. The objective of this program is to create awareness on the importance of this event among these students who will be the future leaders.
“Plant a tree, green the earth, clean the air, live happily”
