About Me
My story began in 5th August 1990. A little girl named Low Wei Qian was born. There are some investigations and articles giving evidence that the people who were born in 80’s and 90’s have different personalities, especially in terms of attitude and thinking. Being the “pioneer” in 90’s, I personally think that the statement is true. The 80’s people are more “others-oriented”, calm and sedate. On the other hand, the 90’s people are more “self-oriented”, confident about themselves, and impulsive.
I was born in Kuantan, but grown up in a small but lovely place named Kluang, a city at the middle part of Johore, at the south of Peninsular Malaysia. I am currently a 3rd year undergraduate, studying Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering Department in University of Malaya, Malaysia. Being an outgoing person, I enjoy my life very much! I like to try something new and dislike routine. One of my biggest dreams is backpack travelling before 25. To explore an unfamiliar place is an exciting task, at the same time can learn cultures from different countries.
Being an environmentalist in heart, I would like to travel many places, to gain more knowledge on environmental issues. Being selected as one of the participants in the Study of United States Institute on Global Environmental Issues (SUSI) program is indeed a good chance for me to obtain the learning opportunities and skills to conduct environmental-related projects which then can contribute to communities by sharing the experiences. I am glad that I am able to enhance the network of organization for a better communication in the field of environmental education. This program would give me the chance of lifetime to learn, as well to increase my understanding on environment preservation and conservation. This is a stepping stone for me to move towards my dream.
I always believe that small steps can make a huge difference. I am confident that my vision can be achieved. Martin Luther King once said, “I have a dream”. I have a dream too, although mine is not as noble as his. I think that I can touch the zenith of success if I put a lot of efforts on it and do my best, and this will be a valuable experience in my life.
